One person was killed and another serious injured in a fiery crash in Newton County over the
weekend. The DPS reports a pickup was traveling northbound on Highway 87 early Saturday
morning when the driver crossed into the southbound lane striking an oncoming car head-on.
The car burst into flames killing the driver. The driver of the pickup, 24-year old Brycton
Hughley, of Newton, was airlifted to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in serious condition.
The DPS is investigation the fatality.
