Al's Morning Blog 08/12/22

Well, it's the weekend and I am tired of Merrick Garland, Nancy, Chuck, Jill, Joe, Hunter and all of the trappings that go with the left side of the dial. So let's take a break and talk about yesteryear. You remember yesteryear or at least yesterday. It seems just a tad of time back that keys unlocked doors and drawers and vaults and even "the key to your heart". (Well, maybe). Keys were so great. They started your car, gave entrance to where you worked, if you needed one and of course the key to the house you lived in. If you weren't going to be home, you left the key........why, under the mat or in the mailbox. No crook would dare think of looking in either place. Keys to the mail box, or your safe deposit box at the bank. Oh, yes. Let me think. Banks had real tellers and loan officers and a cop on duty. Sometimes they had candy for your kid. If you lost your key, you usually had a duplicate. (There's another word you can throw away.) It goes in the file with standard transmissions, black and white TV, 45 RPM's, cigarette machines, Maidenform bra's and a hundred other forgotten past dues.

We used to enter our building by pushing the door open. Then came the KEY. Then came the lanyard around your neck or on your key chain. That worked okay. Now you enter with your phone. You can do almost anything with your phone. Your phone is your life. Last week a ballplayer slid into third base, forgetting his phone was in his back pocket. What would Babe Ruth have said? It's the phone. You cannot live without it and sometimes you can't live with it. Wouldnt it be great if you could talk to your key?
