Longtime Beaumont City Councilman WL Pate has passed away. Pate was hospitalized last
week. Pate served as a Councilman At-Large for the past 14 years and was a mayoral candidate
this past May. He headed up several charities over the years including the Babe Zaharius
Foundation and was a big supporter of Lamar University. WL Pate was 73 years old. Services are pending.
