Abbott Extends Deadline For SNAP Due To Flood

(Austin, TX) -- Governor Greg Abbott is announcing an extended deadline for SNAP recipients to apply for benefits to replace food lost in the recent floods. According to Abbott, the federal government approved the Texas Health and Human Services Commission's request to extend the deadline to August 18th. The extension applies to SNAP recipients in 26 Texas counties that were affected by the floods. The replacement benefits will be added to recipients' Lone Star Cards within two business days of being approved.
