(Austin, TX) -- Deer season has officially begun in Texas. The season runs from November 1st through January 4th in the North Zone and from November 1st to January 18th in the South Zone. There's also a designated youth-only season from January 5th to January 18th in both zones. Estimates say Texas has over five million white-tailed deer. A report from Texas A&M's Natural Resource institute says, white-tailed deer hunters and supporting landowners contribute over nine billion dollars to the state's economy each year.
