Al's Morning Blog 12/28/22

i love flying. I hate cancellations and so do the thousands that experienced that this past holiday. All airlines had some problems, Southwest the most. Baggage lost, people sleeping in airports and missing the time they were going to spend with loved ones. Blame the weather but also some antiquated theories about depositing fliers. SWA on many routes make two and three stops enroute to the east or west coast. I've flown from Houston to Columbus via Dallas and Little Roack and more. SWA has done this since their inception. American, United, and Delta to name a few returns to hubs such as Chicago, Dallas and Atlanta. If you land in Louisville and get snowed in, crews are stuck too. Add to that, Southwest flies into many secondary ports, not as well equipped as DFW , O'Hare or Hartsfield. Not enough space or equipment. The end result is what you saw this holiday. Lost luggage, lost crews and lost days with loved ones. I know SWA will make changes and they will be good. They will recover, just as they did with the 737 groundings two years ago. Southwest is Texas born and we need them. But we need them to find themselves. Looking at the unclaimed luggage makes me hope everyone who takes medication or has important documents will keep it in their carry one. a Big word to the wise.
