Over 4 months after the premiere of season 2, FX's The Bear has finally been renewed for a third season at FX and Hulu!
The wildly successful comedy drama follows Carmen "Carmy" Berzatto,(brilliantly portrayed by Jeremy Allen White) a talented chef with experience working in the world's top restaurant who is pulled into running the family Italian beef sandwich shop in Chicago following the tragic death of his brother. Viewers fell in love with the relationships Carmy created with both longtime staff members and newcomers like aspiring chef and Culinary Institute Of America grad Sydney.
The dialogue is particularly well-written, especially in context of characters dealing with drama while working in the high stress fast-paced kitchen. Marcus, a quiet, creative, fiercely loyal dessert chef is a fan favorite as is the initially overbearing turned loveable fast talker Richie.
With news of a new season, you may be wondering what release timing could look like. Going off of the production schedule for season 2, The Bear took from late February through late April earlier this year to shoot the 10 episode season. Season 2 premiered on FX and Hulu June 22nd, so not all that long after filming unlike many other shows where you could wait 6 to 8 months after filming completes before even getting a trailer.
With the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike (all cast members of The Bear are members of the union), there's no filming start date set in stone right now and we do not know whether or not new episodes have already been fully written, partially written, or not started at all. For now, all we can do is wait and see...the most frustrating feeling for a diehard fan of the show, but rest assured knowing we ARE getting a new season of what may be the best show out there right now.
