JT saw the Beatles in concert when he was 6 years old, so it’s safe to say music got to him early. After college radio, he landed his first job at a commercial station driving its promotional van, and he’s been in radio ever since 1979. He’s worked every shift and served as a music director and program director across Top 40, AC, country, smooth jazz, oldies, classic hits, and news/talk. Along the way, he’s interviewed Steven Tyler, John Mellencamp, Anita Baker, and dozens more, spent a poolside afternoon with Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart, and visited Michael Bolton’s house to talk about a new album he was working on. On the air, he’s real, relatable, and fun.
JT grew up in Pennsylvania. He’s been married to Judy for more than four decades, and they have two kids, Michael and Alexandra. Golden retrievers have been part of his life for most of it, and he loves golf, hunting, cooking, and time with family. He supports the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, women’s shelters, and Youth for Christ, and he says Jesus Christ changed his life. A couple of stories he loves to tell: he once swam with wild dolphins for half an hour while working as a lifeguard in Ocean City, Maryland, and he’s met Ronald Reagan in the Oval Office. His playlist runs from Aerosmith and Luther Vandross to George Strait, Kenny Chesney, and Peter White, and he can’t pick just one song he never skips, though “Sweet Emotion,” “The Dance,” and “Neon Moon” all make the list. His perfect dinner? Lasagna or sea bass, a glass of red wine, and an espresso.
